We Presented Our 16th Sustainability Report
Knowledge, Innovation and Responsibility – Shaping a Sustainable Future
During 2024, we continued to develop sustainable business models that create a measurable impact on the environment and the communities in which we operate. Aware that our responsibility extends beyond profit, we focused on investments that generate long-term value – not only for our business, but for society as a whole.
Through the use of renewable energy from solar power plants and biomass facilities, we reduced carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 40,000 tonnes, equivalent to the annual absorption capacity of approximately 1.5 million trees. Our objective is clear – by 2030, 60% of our total energy consumption will come from renewable sources, alongside a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
These and numerous other initiatives form part of our 2024 ESG Report, prepared in accordance with GRI Standards and the principle of double materiality. We believe that sustainability is reflected in everyday decisions, and therefore we see reporting not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to improve, increase transparency and strengthen accountability.
“When we speak about the report, we also speak about the values that guide us – knowledge, trust and responsibility. At Delta Holding, we believe that sustainability begins with knowledge. That is why, over the past year, we invested more than 23,000 hours in employee training. We also believe in the potential of innovation to accelerate this transformation. Today, we are implementing more than 20 artificial intelligence initiatives that help us operate more efficiently, responsibly and precisely – across all businesses and processes, from energy management to reporting,” said Marija Desivojević Cvetković, Senior Vice President for Strategy and Development.
he integration of social responsibility through concrete projects and initiatives represents a strong pillar of our ESG strategy, as highlighted by Tijana Koprivica, Chief Business Sustainability Officer at Delta Holding. “Delta is making significant progress towards achieving its ESG goals. Investments in renewable energy sources have contributed to a 20% reduction in direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions. We concluded the year with 20 solar power plants in operation. We continued investing in the community – since its establishment, the Delta Foundation has donated more than EUR 40 million. Our current focus is on the development of rural areas through the ‘Our Village’ and ‘Digital Village’ projects, as well as on preserving vulnerable families through the ‘Third Parent’ initiative. We are proud that each of our projects delivers measurable improvements in people’s quality of life.”
On behalf of EY, the company’s partner in preparing the report, Danijela Mirković, Head of Audit, emphasized that upcoming changes in European regulation do not diminish the importance of non-financial reporting, and that companies applying the highest standards in this area will continue to hold a competitive advantage in the European market. Serbia is in the process of aligning with European regulatory frameworks, and the introduction of reporting standards is expected in the domestic market as well.
The event also featured the ceremonial signing of the Partnership for Equality, further reaffirming our commitment to equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion.
On that occasion, Brankica Janković, Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, stated: “The ESG approach cannot be complete without fully embracing all aspects of equality. Delta Holding demonstrates that equality is not a declarative value, but a concrete practice – through the opportunities it provides to employees and the support it extends to communities across Serbia.”
The report was presented in the pleasant setting of the garden of Prime Restaurant, within the Crowne Plaza hotel – symbolically, in a venue that reflects the values we strive for: responsibility, dedication and sustainable development.
